EVERY CHILD'S CREATIVITY MATTERS
2009 has seen the launch of two new independent organisations specialising in creative learning, ‘Creative Junction’ serving the Thames Valley and ‘Future Creative’ serving Kent. Both are descended from government’s flagship Creative Partnerships programme, managed by Arts Council England, from which they have now successfully spun-out.
Back in 2006, Kindle was commissioned to work with existing Creative Partnerships in four locations in the South East to help identify sustainable models for delivery from 2008. With the aim of widening the benefits of this highly regarded programme to more young people, Kindle successfully generated potential new business models through extensive research, stakeholder consultation and stimulation of new business networks.
We are delighted to see therefore, many of the key recommendations of the Kindle model, used as a foundation for the recent re-launch of Creative Partnerships as independent social enterprises in the South East . Along with Creative Partnerships based in Sussex and Southampton, CPs Kent and Slough have all now secured funding and a future to act as hubs for the wider South East, including Oxfordshire, Milton Keynes, Bucks, Berks, Southampton, Portsmouth, Hants, Surrey and all of Kent. This will enable many more schools, colleges, creative professionals, children and young people to access high quality creative learning opportunities.
